About Alpha AI

Alpha AI

Alpha is a small, independent maker workbench built in India. You describe an app in plain words, Alpha builds a working preview, and you walk away with the code. Chat, Create, Lens and file tools sit around that so you can research, design and ship from one place — on the web, Android or desktop.

What Alpha is

Two layers, one product:

  • The workbench — Build with Alpha (Alpha Build) is where you turn an idea into a running web app: prompt, preview, iterate, then download a ZIP, share a link, or follow deploy tips.
  • The engine — Alpha AI is the routing and tooling layer underneath. It picks a model for each request, adds tools like web search and memory, and keeps the experience consistent whichever model answers.

What you can do

  • Build — describe an app (“a tiffin-order page for my mom’s kitchen”), get a multi-file project with a live preview, refine it with follow-ups, then ZIP it, share it, or deploy it yourself. India starter cards help you begin.
  • Chat — everyday questions, writing and code help, with optional web search, link reading, memories and an Agent mode for multi-step tasks.
  • Create — generate images and short video clips from a prompt.
  • Lens — snap or upload a photo and ask what it is, what it says, or what to do with it; Lens can add related web matches.
  • Files — attach PDFs, Word, Excel, slides and images so Alpha can read them, and export answers as PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

Models: modes, not a secret AGI

In the picker you choose a mode, not a vendor:

  • Forge — the most capable route, for your hardest, toughest challenges.
  • Apex — for complex tasks and everyday work; picks a suitable model for each request (the default).
  • Edge — efficient for simpler tasks.
  • Swift — the fastest, for quick answers.

An Effort setting (Low, Medium, High, Extra, Max) under the modes tells Alpha how much care and length to put into each reply.

Behind each mode, Alpha routes your request to third-party AI models — mostly open-weight models served through external API providers. If one route is busy, Alpha falls back to another so you still get an answer. We do not train or own a proprietary frontier model, and Alpha is not artificial general intelligence or “superintelligence” — the domain name is an aspiration, not a claim. We are experimenting with fine-tuning; if we ever ship a model of our own, this page will say so plainly.

Tools & agents

Alpha works in a simple loop: the model decides what it needs, calls a tool, reads the result, and continues until it can answer. Tools today include:

  • Web search and reading a URL you paste, with sources.
  • Memories — save and recall preferences (signed in, optional).
  • Project builder — generate app files and package them as a ZIP.
  • Document generation — PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint output.

Agent mode in Chat can run these steps automatically for research-style tasks. It is a practical helper, not an autonomous agent that acts on your accounts.

Multimodal

  • Vision — attach a photo (or use the camera on mobile) and ask about it right in Chat; the image stays visible in your message.
  • Lens — a dedicated photo-first view for identifying and explaining what you see.
  • Images & video — Create generates pictures and short clips.
  • Voice — dictate prompts with the mic and have replies read aloud.

See it on hard problems

Instead of quoting scores, we show Alpha on tasks you can check yourself. The hard examples page has ready-to-run prompts in five areas — each opens Chat or Build with the prompt filled in, plus a note on how to verify the answer:

  • Complex math — proofs, Markov-chain expectations, tricky integrals with a numeric cross-check.
  • Large-codebase debugging — a multi-file checkout service with three interacting bugs, or your own repo pasted file by file.
  • Scientific reasoning — derivations, Fermi estimates and experiment design with controls and statistics.
  • Long-document analysis — attach an annual report, paper or agreement and get a brief with quotes and page references.
  • Multi-step agent tasks — Agent mode researching live pricing with sources, and Build turning a GST-invoice spec into a working app.

Honest limits

  • It’s a free demo. Signed-out users get a handful of messages and Builds per session; signing in with Google raises the limits. See Pricing.
  • Free routes can be slow or busy. Quality and speed depend on the third-party models available at that moment.
  • AI makes mistakes. Check facts, code and anything important before you rely on it.
  • Build is for prototypes. You get the code and preview; Alpha does not host production apps or offer an SLA.
  • No benchmark scores yet. We haven’t published independent evaluations, so we don’t quote any. When we run real ones, we’ll publish the method alongside the numbers.
  • We don’t claim company certifications, government affiliation or enterprise compliance here.

Why Alpha — and why it’s not a ChatGPT clone

General chatbots are great at answering. Alpha is aimed at making: helping indie makers, students and small businesses in India go from an idea to a shareable app — often from a phone, without a credit card or a dev setup. Chat, Create and Lens exist to support that journey, and the code you build is yours to download and keep.

Your data

Chats stay in your browser by default. Memories are optional. We do not sell your data, and using conversations to improve Alpha is opt-in under Settings. Details in Privacy.
